What is Van Life Campgrounds?

Established in 2019, Van Life Campgrounds (VLC) is pioneering the first network of community-oriented campgrounds tailored specifically for van lifers and nomads on wheels across North America. Our campgrounds blend the best aspects of traditional campgrounds with the communal atmosphere of hostels, fostering connections among like-minded individuals. Each location is thoughtfully designed to offer essential amenities and cultivate a sense of belonging, ensuring that every traveler feels at home, no matter where they are.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While there will always be a campground within the network open year round, each location is weather dependent. Check the specific campground pages for details on when each campground is open.

  • No! All homes on wheels are welcome. We just don’t accept ground tents.

  • Since we offer shared parking areas not private spots we charge per rig. While we love caravans, each separate rig will need to book its own spot. If you’re staying for a week or more, most times our prices are still lower than most campgrounds for 2 rigs.

  • The short answer is no. You’re welcome to work on small things within your rig but we are for remote workers mostly. To respect your working neighbors, we kindly ask that you do not work on any van build projects while at camp.

We’ll introduce build stops into the network at some point!

  • Each location has it’s own booking page. Find all of the booking pages here: Book your spot!

  • Each location is different. Some are adults only, some family friendly. Most allow pets but must be on leash. Some locations will have designated off-leash areas (like Molalla).

  • The short answer is ask your camphost. For liability and safety reasons we can’t have folks that aren’t registered onsite.

We’re in the process of experimenting with Guest Passes. Please ask your camphost for the most up to date way of bringing a guest/friend onsite!

  • All rigs are welcome, but some campgrounds are more suited for large rigs. Each location has a specific booking page that will state it’s size limit. Note the size limits include tow vehicle length!

  • Nomads obviously come from all over, with a diverse set of backgrounds. That said, there is a general flow at camp. Over half of all campers work remotely with a schedule they need to adhere to. As the flexibility of the day allows, you may bump into people with the option for a quick chat in the morning, or around lunch time.

People usually come out of their rigs to chill in the afternoon, and any scheduled events usually take place in the late afternoon or evening. Depending on how people are feeling, at any given time there may be a bonfire, jam sesh, disc golf etc.

Each location has a private Discord channel, where you can get to know who and what’s going on at camp, and any optional events will be posted there.

  • 100% of our team has been leveled up from our camphosts team or campground regulars onsite! You can also donate to our development fund to help us build more rad things on location!

  • VLC’s are created to host nomads year round as they move between locations within the network to follow nice weather.

Most of our locations close at some point for the season but have weekly and monthly discounts for those who want to build community and extend their stay!

  • Sorry, no generators allowed! Boondock ready rigs with solar do best at our campgrounds. Some locations have power available for an additional cost. Take a look at our locations specific booking pages for specific prices and locations that offer power.

  • To cancel or change your booking dates before you arrive, email info@vanlifecampgrounds.com. Check a specific locatoins booking page to see the current refund policy!

If you’re already on-site and want to extend your stay, tell your Camphost or email info@vanlifecampgrounds.com and we’ll take care of it for you!

  • The majority of our campers are digital nomads who work full time on the road. Having good cell service for your hotspot or reliable Wi-Fi is important to us. We have at least one option at each location. Take a look at our different campsite webpages for specifics on Wi-Fi & cell service. Though starlink is making this less and less important each year.

  • You can submit your property to our partner program here and a VLC team member will reach out. We’re always seeking rad new locations and land partners that want to host rad nomads!

  • You can stay updated by signing up for the VLC newsletter at the bottom of this page. This will keep you informed about new events, locations, opportunities, and more.

If you stayed at a VLC before you’ll have been given access to our private discord community as well. That is a great place to see what’s going happening on and off-site.
